The fish usually bite just as good in the afternoon as they do in the morning. We promise to do our best to put you on them, no matter when you fish. Late Fall, Winter and Spring Show Up/Departures may be 30 minutes later than published.
  • Up to 6 passengers per trip — this keeps the experience calm, personal, and safe. Kids count as passengers (and yes, they’re encouraged).

I understand that seasickness or choosing to return early does not qualify for a refund, and the full trip rate still applies.
Please read this carefully. Offshore fishing and boating involve real risks, and we want every guest to understand that before confirming a trip. Assumption of Risk & Release Deep sea fishing and boating involve inherent risks. These risks may include, without limitation, rough water, waves, vessel movement, slippery surfaces, wet decks, changing weather, boarding and stepping hazards, moving equipment, doors and hatches, fishing hooks, sinkers, lines, knives, fish with sharp fins, teeth, spines, scales, and other hazards that can cause injury, illness, property damage, or death. By booking this trip and clicking “I Agree,” I acknowledge that participation is voluntary, that I understand these inherent risks, and that I choose to participate despite them. I represent that I, and any minor children or guests included in this reservation, are physically able to participate. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I voluntarily assume the risks of participation and release, waive, and discharge Distraction Charters, its owner, captain, crew, employees, agents, and affiliated parties from claims arising out of ordinary risks associated with the trip and my participation, except where prohibited by applicable law. I understand that this acknowledgment is intended to be broad and inclusive, and I certify that I have read it carefully and understand its significance before agreeing.

What If You Still Do Not Know Which Trip to Choose?

That is normal, especially if this is your first offshore fishing charter or it has been a while.

Most families, children, first-time offshore anglers, and mixed-experience groups begin with the 6 Hour Family Fun Trip.

Longer trips give us more time, range, and flexibility. They can open up additional fishing areas and different opportunities as the day develops, but they do not guarantee more fish, bigger fish, or a particular species.

Our 10 Hour Full Day Trip is the longest trip we offer.

You do not have to make the decision by yourself.

Choose “Not sure yet. Please help me choose” on the form and tell Captain Troy about your group, budget, experience, and what you hope to accomplish. He will help before confirming the reservation.

If you like to research before deciding, read our Orange Beach Fishing Charter Buyer’s Guide to understand trip length, realistic expectations, and what can affect the fishing.

What Can More Time Open Up?

Longer trips give us additional time and range to consider different fishing opportunities instead of building the entire day around one plan.

Depending on the season, regulations, weather, water conditions, fishing pressure, and where fish are located, a longer offshore trip may include opportunities such as:

  • Red snapper and other reef fish when seasons are open
  • Vermilion snapper and other legal bottom fish
  • Greater amberjack when the season is open and legal fish are available
  • Grouper when season, depth, and fishing conditions make sense
  • King and Spanish mackerel when they are available
  • Wahoo and other offshore pelagic opportunities when the water, season, and fish location line up
  • Trolling, bottom fishing, or changing techniques when the day gives us a reason to adjust

The important word is opportunity. Booking a longer trip gives us more time and more options to work with. It does not mean a particular fish can be promised before we leave the dock.

Captain Troy builds the fishing plan around the conditions and opportunities available that day rather than forcing the entire trip around one species.

What Should You Tell Us About Your Group?

You do not need to write a long explanation. A few details can help us understand what kind of day you are looking for.

  • How many people are coming
  • Ages of children who will be fishing
  • Whether this is your first offshore trip or it has been a while
  • Your budget if you are deciding between trip lengths
  • Whether catching fish for supper is important
  • Whether your main goal is family time, fishing opportunity, or both
  • Any particular species or type of fishing you have in mind
  • Any special concerns we should know about before the trip

If you have a particular fish or type of fishing in mind, please tell us before the trip. Wahoo, mackerel, reef fish, amberjack, grouper, and other species can all be part of offshore fishing at different times, but opportunities change with season, regulations, weather, water conditions, fishing pressure, and fish behavior. Captain Troy would rather discuss whether an expectation is realistic before confirming your reservation than have your group arrive expecting something the Gulf may not reasonably provide that day.
