Wahoo Time in Orange Beach Fishing
The weather was perfect while heading offshore this morning for a 6 hour trip. Our guest were from California and Alabama and they were ready for some deep sea fishing on the Distraction Charter boat. We started trolling soon as we left the rocks so we could pick up a few mackerel for dinner that night. We had a couple of good hits and caught a couple of keepers, but Captain Troy was not quite satisfied with the bite. It was not the bite he wanted. We headed out about 7 miles and put the trollers back out and it was not long before we had a couple of nice King Mackerel on the line. After we got those fish in, we put the trolling lures back out and Zach hooked up a monster Wahoo. This is one of the fastest fish in the ocean, next to the Pacific Sailfish or the Yellowfin Tuna that have been clocked at over 60 mph. This massive Wahoo put some excitement in our guests eyes because they know that this is a game fish. Fall of the year brings all kinds of fish in close to shore to rake up on the bounty of bait fish that move in with the cobalt blue water and an easterly push from beyond. We are excited about October and with any luck, we will hopefully have some more happy fishermen catching some pretty neat fish.
