Catching Big Fish Using Light Tackle
Winter fishing using light tackle in Gulf Shores is fun!
Even though the winter has been pretty mild in Gulf Shores this year, there are still a few days when it is extremely cold. This morning’s trip was about 40 degrees with a water temperature hovering just above 60. The fish did not mind and we actually caught some real cool fish using our new light tackle reels and rods. The Triggerfish were trying to bite but as soon as we would get them feeding, a big shark would come through and cut all of our lines off. The Red Snapper on the other hand, are biting good. This particular fish was just over 18 pounds and was caught near the surface and was gently released after we got a good picture with him.
We are getting excited about this upcoming season. Spring Break in Gulf Shores begins in about 50 days and we have our boat ready to go. If you are planning on coming to our area, the 6 hour trip will certainly be a good option for you because the fish are hungry.
