The trolling bite for King Mackerel has been good all week except for Friday. That was the day that the sea week moved in and we spent most of our time stopping and having to clean off the planers that had collected a bunch of weed and made the bait pull incorrectly. We did catch some nice King Mackerel and Spanish Mackerel until Thursday that were all good size. Our largest was close to 20 pounds, but the average size was about 8 pounds. The big Spanish Mackerel were also biting pretty good. Our largest was close to 4 pounds. The Red Snapper bite was finally good this week. After a week of full moon and them feeding at night, we started catching big ones. The largest Red Snapper caught this week was 29 pounds but the 8 to 10 pounders bit better than they have all week for Distraction Charters. Even though Red Snapper season ends on July 16, 2012, we still have a lot of trips planned until the middle of August. We are going to be offering more catch and release fishing trips for those who want to catch big fish, but don’t care to eat them. For those of you who want to catch some fish to eat, we will be targeting Spanish and Kings. We are also booking a few shark fishing trips for those who want to tug on something big. Either way, we are blessed to be on the water and excited to meet new customers and get to see some of our returning friends. You know, fishing in Orange Beach is more about relaxing and spending time with the ones you love doing an activity like deep sea fishing.
