How booking a charter works with us:
-
First, Ask how many people in your group want to go deep sea fishing? We carry as few as 1 person and and a maximum of 6. It does not matter how old the person is and if they don't want to fish, 6 people is the maximum we can carry for charter. We don't match you up with other people in order to fill spaces. It is too hard to get enough calls to get everyone together on the same date.
-
Decide how long you want to go fishing for. We specialize in 4 and 6 hour trips. Longer trips are $200 per hour plus tip. The 6 hour trip is the best trip for the investment.
-
Fill out the online reservation request and hit the submit button.
-
We will contact you quickly, telling you if we have that date available for your trip. If we do not, we will ask you if you can go another date or in the afternoon of the day you requested. If you do not get an email from us, check your spam box for a response from distractioncharters at gmail dot com.
-
Your trip is not reserved until we get a credit card number and expiration date on file. Reservations are a first come, first serve basis. The person who gives us the cc number first, gets the date, no matter who sent an email first. We take Visa, MC and American Express. We do not take Discover Card. You will need to call us at 251.975.8111 and give the cc number to us. As soon as we get your cc number, we will either call you or email you back, confirming your date. We do not take deposits or run your card. You pay the day of the trip.
-
If paying by credit card, please bring the card with you on the trip. Do not leave it in the truck or car. Your fare is due before departure.
-
The deckhand is to be paid in cash at the end of the trip and that rate is a minimum of 20% of the price of the charter. It is just like a waiter who serves groups of 6 or more. Generally, 20% of the price of the charter is customary.
After the trip is completed, the deckhand will clean and provide bags for the fish you decided to harvest, free of charge (on 4 and 6 hour trips).
What you need to bring with you:
-
Please wear or bring Bright Colored Shirts like Red, Orange, Blue, Green, Yellow. (White is ok, but with bright sunshine, you don't show up good on film. (Black or gray shirts don't make good pictures)
Small Cooler, Food, Drink (your favorite beverage should be in cans) Remember, we do have a cooler on board filled with drinks and we usually keep enough room to put your drinks in their also. This way, you don't run out. If you bring your own cooler, please make sure it is clean and has not been riding around in the back of your pickup truck with grease and mud all over it.
Towel to wipe your hands. (after you bait your hook)
Sunscreen (should be applied as directed) Be sure to apply sunscreen before going deep sea fishing. Read how to prevent sunburn here.
Tennis Shoes or Soft Rubber (no black soles or grass cutting shoes with mud on them)
Sunglasses, Hat(if your bald) If you would like to find some clothing that protects you from the sun, visit Sun Precautions and purchase them before arriving.
Motion sickness medication (bonine, non-drowsy dramamine or the Scopolamine Patches from your doctor) Regular dramamine usually makes people extremely drowsy per our experience.
Leave These Behind!
Glass Bottles They might break and cut somone. It also makes the trash can fill up faster and make it heavier.
Cell Phones and Game Boys: your fishing - why not enjoy your day without the distraction of phone calls. Besides, they don't work very well at sea beyond 10 miles.
Orange Beach Fishing T-Shirts
If you would like your very own Crew-T-Shirt, you may purchase them in the Dock Store at the Orange Beach Marina. The reason we do not keep them on the boat is because of the limited space we have for storage.
